Princess Alexandra Hospital
Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary level medical facility located in Woolloongabba, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is one of the largest hospitals in Australia and is administered by Queensland Health.
History[edit]
The hospital was named after Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy, who is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. It was officially opened in 1956, replacing the South Brisbane Hospital.
Services[edit]
Princess Alexandra Hospital provides a wide range of medical services. These include emergency medicine, general medicine, surgery, rehabilitation, mental health, oncology, and cardiology. The hospital is also a major teaching hospital for the University of Queensland and other universities in Queensland.
Facilities[edit]
The hospital has over 800 beds and employs over 5,000 staff. It has a 24-hour emergency department, intensive care unit, and a large outpatient clinic. The hospital also has a helipad for emergency air transport.
