RCS-4

RCS-4 (also known as SR-19 and BTM-4) is a synthetic cannabinoid that is used in scientific research and has been sold online as a designer drug. It is a potent agonist for the CB1 receptor and CB2 receptor with Ki values of 2.9 nM and 5.2 nM, respectively.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

RCS-4 is a structural analogue of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active principle in cannabis. It is composed of a naphthoyl group, a cyclohexylmethyl group, and a morpholine group. The naphthoyl group is similar to the one found in JWH-018 and JWH-073, while the cyclohexylmethyl group is similar to the one found in CP 47,497.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

RCS-4 acts as a potent full agonist at the CB1 receptor (Ki = 2.9 nM) and the CB2 receptor (Ki = 5.2 nM). The potency of RCS-4 at the CB1 and CB2 receptors is comparable to that of JWH-018 and JWH-073, two other synthetic cannabinoids that are also used as designer drugs.

Legal status[edit | edit source]

RCS-4 is illegal in many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. In the United States, it is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act. In the United Kingdom, it is classified as a Class B drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. In Germany, it is classified as a Anlage II controlled substance under the Betäubungsmittelgesetz.
