Rellenong talong
Rellenong Talong is a traditional Filipino dish that is often served as a main course during lunch or dinner. The name "Rellenong Talong" is derived from the Spanish word "relleno" which means "stuffed" and "talong" which is the Filipino term for eggplant. This dish is a type of stuffed vegetable dish that is popular in many Filipino households.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
The main ingredient of Rellenong Talong is the eggplant, which is grilled or broiled until the skin is charred and the flesh is soft. The eggplant is then peeled and flattened, and the inside is stuffed with a mixture of ground meat, usually pork or beef, and various vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, and garlic. The stuffed eggplant is then dipped in beaten egg and fried until golden brown.
Preparation[edit | edit source]
The preparation of Rellenong Talong involves several steps. First, the eggplants are grilled or broiled until the skin is charred. The skin is then peeled off and the flesh is flattened with a fork. The ground meat is sautéed with the vegetables and seasonings, and this mixture is used to stuff the flattened eggplant. The stuffed eggplant is then dipped in beaten egg and fried until golden brown. The dish is typically served with rice and a dipping sauce made from soy sauce and vinegar.
Variations[edit | edit source]
There are several variations of Rellenong Talong. Some versions use fish or shrimp instead of ground meat. Others add additional ingredients such as cheese, raisins, or peas. There is also a version called Rellenong Talong na may Itlog, which includes a whole hard-boiled egg inside the stuffing.
