SN 35210

SN 35210 is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of benzodiazepine drugs. It is a potent and selective agonist for the GABA_A receptor, which is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter receptor in the brain. SN 35210 is known for its anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, hypnotic, sedative, skeletal muscle relaxant, and amnestic properties.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

SN 35210 is a benzodiazepine derivative. Benzodiazepines are a class of psychoactive drugs that have a core chemical structure of a benzene ring fused to a diazepine ring. The chemical structure of SN 35210 is unique among benzodiazepines, as it has a nitro group at the 7-position, a phenyl group at the 5-position, and a chloro group at the 2-position.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

SN 35210 acts as a full agonist at the GABA_A receptor, the most widespread inhibitory receptor within the brain. By binding to this receptor, SN 35210 enhances the effects of the neurotransmitter GABA, leading to increased inhibitory effects within the brain. This results in the drug's various therapeutic effects, including anxiolysis, anticonvulsant activity, sedation, muscle relaxation, and amnesia.

Therapeutic Uses[edit | edit source]

Due to its pharmacological properties, SN 35210 has potential therapeutic uses in the treatment of various conditions, including anxiety disorders, seizure disorders, insomnia, and muscle spasms. However, like other benzodiazepines, it also has the potential for abuse and addiction, and its use must be carefully monitored.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

The side effects of SN 35210 are similar to those of other benzodiazepines and can include drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, and impaired coordination. Long-term use can lead to tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms upon cessation of use.
