Salvo was a brand of laundry detergent manufactured by the Procter & Gamble company. It was notable for being one of the first detergents to be marketed in the form of pre-measured tablets, rather than the traditional powder or liquid forms.

History[edit | edit source]

Salvo was introduced in the early 1960s as a convenient alternative to traditional laundry detergents. The product was designed to simplify the laundry process by eliminating the need to measure out detergent. Each tablet contained a pre-measured amount of detergent, which was intended to be placed directly into the washing machine.

Product Features[edit | edit source]

Salvo tablets were marketed as a time-saving and mess-free solution for doing laundry. The tablets were designed to dissolve quickly in water, releasing the detergent to clean clothes effectively. The product was particularly popular among consumers who appreciated the convenience of pre-measured detergent.

Discontinuation[edit | edit source]

Despite its initial popularity, Salvo faced competition from other forms of laundry detergent, including liquid detergents and more advanced powder formulations. Over time, consumer preferences shifted, and Procter & Gamble eventually discontinued the Salvo brand.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Salvo is remembered as an innovative product that introduced the concept of pre-measured detergent tablets to the market. This concept has since been adopted and refined by other detergent manufacturers, leading to the development of modern laundry pods and tablets.
