Shoshana Arbeli-Almozlino (Hebrew: שושנה ארבלי-אלמוזלינו‎; born January 26, 1926 – June 12, 2015) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Alignment and Labor Party from 1965 until 1992. She also held the position of Minister of Health from 1986 to 1988.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Shoshana Arbeli-Almozlino was born in Mosul, Iraq, and immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1947. She was a member of the Haganah and later joined the Israel Defense Forces during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Arbeli-Almozlino studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and earned a degree in social work.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Arbeli-Almozlino began her political career as a member of the Mapai party, which later became part of the Alignment. She was first elected to the Knesset in the 1965 elections and served continuously until 1992. During her tenure, she was involved in various committees, including the Labor and Welfare Committee and the Finance Committee.

Minister of Health[edit | edit source]

In 1986, Arbeli-Almozlino was appointed as the Minister of Health by Prime Minister Shimon Peres. During her time in office, she focused on improving the healthcare system in Israel, including the expansion of medical services and the introduction of new health regulations.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Shoshana Arbeli-Almozlino is remembered for her contributions to the Israeli healthcare system and her long-standing service in the Knesset. She passed away on June 12, 2015, at the age of 89.
