Sinjai Regency
Sinjai Regency is a regency located in the South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It is one of the 23 regencies and cities that make up the province. The regency's administrative center is the town of Sinjai.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Sinjai Regency is located on the eastern coast of South Sulawesi. It is bordered by Bone Regency to the north and west, Gowa Regency and Takalar Regency to the south, and the Gulf of Bone to the east.
Administration[edit | edit source]
The regency is divided into six districts, namely Sinjai Utara, Sinjai Timur, Sinjai Selatan, Sinjai Tengah, Sinjai Barat, and Tellu Limpoe. Each district is further divided into several villages.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Sinjai Regency is primarily based on agriculture, with rice, corn, soybean, and peanut being the main crops. The regency is also known for its fishery industry, particularly in the Gulf of Bone.
Culture[edit | edit source]
The people of Sinjai Regency are predominantly of the Bugis ethnic group, and the Buginese language is widely spoken. The regency is known for its traditional Bugis houses, which are built on stilts and have distinctive boat-shaped roofs.
Education[edit | edit source]
There are several elementary, junior high, and senior high schools in Sinjai Regency. The regency is also home to the Muhammadiyah University of Sinjai, one of the leading universities in South Sulawesi.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
The main mode of transportation in Sinjai Regency is by road. The regency is served by the Trans-Sulawesi Highway, which connects it to other parts of South Sulawesi and Indonesia.
