Springer Nature is a global publishing company that specializes in academic, educational, and professional content. It was created in 2015 through the merger of Springer Science+Business Media and Holtzbrinck Publishing Group's Nature Publishing Group, Palgrave Macmillan, and Macmillan Education.

Springer Nature was formed in 2015 by the merger of Springer Science+Business Media and Holtzbrinck Publishing Group's Nature Publishing Group, Palgrave Macmillan, and Macmillan Education. The company made its debut in May 2015. Following the merger, Holtzbrinck Publishing Group was majority owner of the new company.
Operations[edit | edit source]
Springer Nature publishes books, e-books, and peer-reviewed journals in science, humanities, technical and medical (medicine) publishing. Springer Nature's books and journals include more than 300,000 titles available in print and online in the Science, Technology and Medicine (STM) sector. The company operates in over 50 countries, and has more than 13,000 employees.
Divisions[edit | edit source]
Springer Nature is structured in three divisions:
- Research: This division contains the academic and scientific research arm of the company, including brands such as Springer, Nature Research, BioMed Central, and Palgrave Macmillan.
- Education: This division includes the global education businesses, including Palgrave Macmillan and Macmillan Education.
- Professional: This division includes the professional and applied science businesses.

Springer Nature is known for its commitment to open access, making scholarly research more accessible to everyone. It is one of the largest open access publishers in the world.
