Story Landis
Story Landis is an American neuroscientist known for her significant contributions to the field of neuroscience. She served as the Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from 2003 to 2014.

Story Landis was born in New York City. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College and her Ph.D. in biology from Harvard University.

After completing her Ph.D., Landis conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School. She then joined the faculty at Case Western Reserve University, where she became a full professor and chair of the Department of Neurosciences.
In 1995, Landis moved to the NIH, where she served as the Scientific Director of the NINDS. In 2003, she was appointed as the Director of NINDS, a position she held until her retirement in 2014. During her tenure, she played a crucial role in advancing research on neurological disorders and stroke.
