TNP-470 structure

TNP-470 is a synthetic analog of fumagillin, a natural product derived from the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. It is primarily known for its anti-angiogenic properties, which means it can inhibit the formation of new blood vessels. This characteristic makes TNP-470 a potential therapeutic agent in the treatment of various diseases, including cancer and age-related macular degeneration.

Mechanism of Action[edit]

TNP-470 exerts its effects by inhibiting methionine aminopeptidase 2 (MetAP2), an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the process of angiogenesis.
