Tennessee State University
Tennessee State University (TSU) is a public university located in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a historically black university (HBCU) and a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. TSU was established in 1912 and is the only state-funded HBCU in Tennessee.

Tennessee State University was founded in 1912 as the Tennessee Agricultural & Industrial State Normal School. It became a four-year teachers' college in 1922 and was elevated to university status in 1951. The university has grown significantly over the years, expanding its academic programs and facilities.
Campus[edit | edit source]
The university's main campus is located in North Nashville, with a second campus, the Avon Williams Campus, situated in downtown Nashville. The main campus features a variety of academic buildings, residence halls, and recreational facilities.

TSU offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs through its various colleges and schools, including the College of Agriculture, College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Health Sciences, and the College of Liberal Arts.
Athletics[edit | edit source]
Tennessee State University is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and competes in NCAA Division I. The university's athletic teams are known as the Tennessee State Tigers. The football team plays its home games at Nissan Stadium, which is also the home of the Tennessee Titans.

TSU has produced many notable alumni, including Oprah Winfrey, Wilma Rudolph, and Ralph Boston. These individuals have made significant contributions in various fields such as entertainment, sports, and public service.
