Torgiano

Torgiano is a comune and town in the Province of Perugia, located in the Umbria region of central Italy. Renowned for its fine wines, Torgiano is a member of the Italy's Wine Cities and is the location of the Wine Museum (Museo del Vino).

Torgiano's history dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was a fortified village under the control of Perugia. The town was a strategic point in the defense system of Perugia, due to its location at the confluence of the Chiascio and Tiber rivers.

Torgiano is famous for its wine production, particularly the Torgiano Rosso Riserva, which was the first Umbrian wine to receive the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) status.
