University Of British Columbia
University of British Columbia (UBC) is a public research university located in British Columbia, Canada. It was established in 1908 and is the oldest institution of higher learning in the province.

The University of British Columbia was founded by an act of the provincial legislature in 1908. It was originally located in Fairview, but moved to its current location in Point Grey in 1925. The university has grown significantly since its founding, and now includes two main campuses: the original one in Point Grey, and a newer one in Kelowna in the Okanagan region.
Academics[edit | edit source]
UBC offers a wide range of academic programs through its 12 faculties and 2 colleges. These include the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Education, among others. The university is known for its strong programs in fields such as biology, chemistry, geography, political science, and economics.

Research is a major focus at UBC, with the university receiving significant funding from both government and private sources. The university is home to a number of research centres and institutes, including the UBC Hospital, UBC Centre for Disease Control, and the UBC Cancer Research Centre.
Campus[edit | edit source]
The main campus of UBC is located in Point Grey, a neighborhood in Vancouver. It is situated on a peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and is surrounded by forests and beaches. The campus is home to a number of notable buildings and landmarks, including the UBC Library, UBC Museum of Anthropology, and the UBC Botanical Garden.
Notable alumni[edit | edit source]
UBC has produced a number of notable alumni, including several Nobel Prize winners, Rhodes Scholars, and leaders in various fields. Some of the most notable include Justin Trudeau, the current Prime Minister of Canada, and Kim Campbell, the first female Prime Minister of Canada.
