History[edit | edit source]

Warwick Medical School was established in 2000, making it one of the newer medical schools in the UK. Its creation was part of a government initiative to increase the number of medical graduates in the UK. Unlike traditional medical schools, which offer 5 to 6-year courses to students straight from secondary school, WMS was among the first in the UK to offer a condensed 4-year graduate entry program for students who had already completed an undergraduate degree in another discipline.

These include the Clinical Sciences Building at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, which is equipped with modern research laboratories, lecture theatres, and a clinical skills suite designed to simulate hospital and GP environments.

Admissions[edit | edit source]

Admission to the MB ChB program is highly competitive, with applicants required to have a first degree in any discipline. Candidates must also sit the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) and may be required to attend an interview. The school looks for candidates who demonstrate a strong understanding of the values and attributes needed to become a doctor, including empathy, teamwork, and communication skills.
