4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT (also known as 4-F-5-MeO-DMT) is a psychedelic drug that belongs to the tryptamine class. It is a synthetic compound and is considered a lesser-known analog of 5-MeO-DMT.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT is a synthetic molecule of the tryptamine class. Tryptamines share a core structure comprised of a bicyclic indole heterocycle attached at R3 to an amino group via an ethyl side chain. 4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT is substituted at R4 of its indole heterocycle with a fluorine atom; it also contains a methoxy functional group CH3O- which is attached to the terminal amine RN of its tryptamine backbone.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

The pharmacological actions of 4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT are not fully understood. However, like other tryptamines, it is thought to act as an agonist for the serotonin receptors in the brain, specifically at the 5-HT2A receptor. The psychoactive effects of 4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT are believed to come from its efficacy at the 5-HT2A receptor as a partial agonist. However, the role of these interactions and how they result in the psychedelic experience remains the subject of ongoing scientific investigation.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT are similar to other psychedelic tryptamines and can include hallucinations, euphoria, time distortion, and spiritual experiences. As with all psychedelics, the effects are subjective and can vary greatly among individuals. The duration, intensity, and experience can be influenced by dose, set, setting, and the individual's physiology and psychology.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of 4-Fluoro-5-methoxy-DMT varies by country. In many countries, it is a controlled substance, making its manufacture, distribution, or use illegal. It is always recommended to check the legal status in your country before possession or use.
