Allyson Pollock

Allyson Pollock is a public health physician and professor known for her research and advocacy in the field of health policy. She is currently the Director of the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Pollock was born in Scotland and completed her early education there. She later attended the University of Edinburgh, where she earned her MBChB degree. She also holds a MPH from the University of Glasgow and a PhD from the University of London.

Career[edit | edit source]

Pollock has held numerous academic and professional positions throughout her career. She served as the head of the Public Health Policy Unit at University College London and the director of research & development at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She is currently the director of the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University.

Her research focuses on health services and health policy, including the privatization of NHS and the impact of PFI on health care. She has written extensively on these topics, contributing to both academic journals and mainstream media.

Pollock is the author of several books, including "NHS plc: The Privatisation of Our Health Care" and "Tackling Rugby: What Every Parent Should Know". She has also written numerous articles for academic journals and newspapers.

Pollock's work has been recognized with several awards and honors. She was named a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health.
