Arsenal Football Club is a professional football club based in Islington, London, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. Arsenal has won numerous trophies, including 13 First Division and Premier League titles and a record 14 FA Cups. The club's home ground is the Emirates Stadium, which they moved to in 2006 after leaving Highbury.

Arsenal was founded in 1886 as Dial Square by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich. The club was renamed Royal Arsenal shortly after its formation and then Woolwich Arsenal in 1893. In 1913, the club moved to Highbury and dropped "Woolwich" from its name, becoming simply Arsenal.

Achievements[edit | edit source]

Arsenal has a rich history of success. The club has won 13 league titles, including one Invincible season in 2003-04, where they went unbeaten throughout the entire league campaign. Arsenal has also won a record 14 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, and 16 FA Community Shields. Internationally, Arsenal has won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1970 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1994.

The club's current home, the Emirates Stadium, is located in Holloway, London. It has a seating capacity of 60,704, making it the fourth-largest football stadium in England. Before moving to the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal played at Highbury for 93 years.

Rivalries[edit | edit source]

Arsenal has fierce rivalries with several clubs, most notably with Tottenham Hotspur, with whom they contest the North London derby. Other significant rivalries include matches against Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

Arsenal has had several influential managers, with Arsène Wenger being the most notable. Other significant managers include Herbert Chapman, who is credited with modernizing the club in the 1930s, and George Graham, who led the team to multiple trophies in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
