A ball and socket joint is a type of joint where one bone(usually the proximal bone) has a socket and another bone (usually distal) has a ball such as the shoulder joint and the hip joint.

Benefits and risks[edit | edit source]

This type of design gives extreme joint movement flexibility although the stability of the joint is a bit at risk given the extreme flexibility.
