Bellerose, Queens
Bellerose, Queens is a neighborhood located in the borough of Queens in New York City, United States. It is part of Queens Community Board 13. The neighborhood is situated near the edge of the city, adjacent to the Nassau County line to the east.

Bellerose was named for the achievements of Helen Marsh Bell, who established the first community school in the area. The name "Bellerose" is a combination of her last name and the French word for "beautiful", which reflects the aesthetic appeal of the neighborhood.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Bellerose is bordered by Little Neck Parkway to the west, Union Turnpike to the north, 249th Street to the east, and Hillside Avenue to the south. The neighborhood is characterized by its close proximity to the Cross Island Parkway and the Bellerose train station on the Long Island Rail Road.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 United States Census, Bellerose had a population of approximately 18,687. The neighborhood is known for its diverse community, with a significant number of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Filipino residents.
Education[edit | edit source]
Bellerose is served by the New York City Department of Education. The neighborhood is home to several public and private schools, including P.S. 133, P.S. 18, and the St. Gregory the Great School.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Public transportation in Bellerose is provided by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates bus and subway services throughout New York City. The neighborhood is also served by the Long Island Rail Road, which provides commuter rail service to Manhattan.

Several notable individuals have hailed from Bellerose, including Nancy Shevell, the vice president of the New England Motor Freight, and Steve Hofstetter, a comedian and author.
