Biocon is a biopharmaceutical company based in Bangalore, India. The company manufactures generic active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) that are sold in over 120 countries across the globe, including the developed markets of the United States and Europe. It also manufactures novel biologics, as well as, biosimilar insulins and antibodies, which are sold in India as branded formulations. Biocon's biosimilar products are also sold in both bulk and formulation forms in several emerging markets.

Biocon was established in 1978 by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, who started the company in the garage of her rented house in Bangalore. It was initially a joint venture with Biocon Biochemicals Limited, of Cork, Ireland. In 1989, the collaboration with Biocon Biochemicals was restructured into a separate company. Today, Biocon is among the top 20 global biotechnology companies and the largest publicly traded biopharmaceutical company in Asia.

Biocon's product portfolio includes a range of biopharmaceuticals, including monoclonal antibodies, biosimilars, immunosuppressants, and vaccines. The company's products are used in the treatment of a variety of diseases, including cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and infectious diseases.

Biocon's services include contract research, clinical development, and contract manufacturing. The company also provides support in the areas of regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and project management.

Biocon's research and development (R&D) efforts are focused on developing innovative and affordable biopharmaceuticals for diseases that are prevalent in India and other emerging markets.
