Côte d'Ivoire, officially known as the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country located on the South Atlantic coast of West Africa. It is bordered by Ghana to the east, Liberia to the west, Guinea to the northwest, Mali and Burkina Faso to the north, and the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) to the south.

The history of Côte d'Ivoire dates back to prehistoric times with the country's early history dominated by Ghana and Mali empires. It was later colonized by the French in the 19th century and gained independence on August 7, 1960.

Côte d'Ivoire is characterized by a general flatness and is divided into four major geographic regions: coastal plains, mountainous region, savannah, and forest. The country is known for its diverse flora and fauna, which are protected in several national parks including Comoé National Park and Taï National Park.

The economy of Côte d'Ivoire is diverse and driven by various sectors including agriculture, mining, and services. It is the world's largest producer and exporter of cocoa beans, and a significant producer and exporter of coffee and palm oil.

Côte d'Ivoire is rich in cultural and artistic traditions, influenced by the various ethnic groups in the country. The official language is French, and the country is known for its music genres, particularly Coupé-Décalé and Zouglou.

Côte d'Ivoire is a republic with a strong executive power vested in the President. Its capital city is Yamoussoukro, while its economic capital and largest city is Abidjan.
