Christy Nicole Turlington (born January 2, 1969) is an American model, humanitarian, and filmmaker. She is best known for representing Calvin Klein's Eternity campaign in the 1980s and 1990s. Turlington was part of the group of models who gained fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s, known as the supermodels, alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Claudia Schiffer.

Christy Turlington was born in Walnut Creek, California, to a Pan Am flight attendant mother and a pilot father. She was raised in Danville, California, along with her two sisters. Turlington was discovered by a local photographer while riding horses in Miami, Florida, at the age of 14.

Modeling[edit | edit source]
Turlington moved to New York City to pursue modeling full-time after graduating from high school. She quickly rose to fame and became one of the most sought-after models in the world. Turlington has appeared on the covers of numerous international Vogue magazines and has been featured in campaigns for major fashion houses such as Versace, Chanel, and Marc Jacobs.
Humanitarian work[edit | edit source]
In addition to her modeling career, Turlington is a dedicated humanitarian. She founded the organization Every Mother Counts, which aims to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. Turlington's interest in maternal health was sparked after experiencing complications during the birth of her first child.

Turlington directed and produced the documentary film No Woman, No Cry, which premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. The film highlights the challenges faced by pregnant women in various parts of the world.

Turlington married actor and director Edward Burns in 2003. The couple has two children. Turlington is also an avid runner and has completed several marathons to raise awareness and funds for maternal health.
