Disney's One Too
Disney's One Too was a programming block that aired on the UPN network from 1999 to 2003. It was a spin-off of the popular Disney's One Saturday Morning block that aired on ABC. The block featured animated series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation and was aimed at children aged 6 to 11.
History[edit | edit source]
Disney's One Too premiered on September 6, 1999, as part of a strategic partnership between The Walt Disney Company and UPN. The block was designed to provide UPN with a competitive edge in children's programming during weekday afternoons and Sunday mornings. The programming block was initially successful, attracting a significant audience of young viewers.
Programming[edit | edit source]
The block featured a variety of animated series, many of which were also part of Disney's One Saturday Morning. Some of the notable shows included:
Format[edit | edit source]
Disney's One Too followed a similar format to Disney's One Saturday Morning, with a mix of animated series and interstitial segments. The block typically aired on weekday afternoons and Sunday mornings, providing children with a consistent source of entertainment outside of the traditional Saturday morning cartoon lineup.
Decline and Cancellation[edit | edit source]
Despite its initial success, Disney's One Too faced increasing competition from other children's programming blocks and cable channels. By 2003, UPN decided to discontinue the block as part of a broader shift in its programming strategy. The final broadcast of Disney's One Too aired on August 31, 2003.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Although Disney's One Too was short-lived, it left a lasting impact on children's television. Many of the shows that aired during the block continued to be popular in syndication and on other networks. The block is fondly remembered by those who grew up watching it during its four-year run.
