Disney Channel
Disney Channel is an American pay television channel that serves as the flagship property of Disney Branded Television, a unit of the Disney General Entertainment Content division of The Walt Disney Company. The channel was originally established on April 18, 1983, as a premium channel, and later transitioned to a basic cable channel in 1997.

Disney Channel was launched on April 18, 1983, under the name "The Disney Channel." The channel initially aired 16 hours of programming daily, featuring a mix of classic Disney films, television series, and original programming. In 1997, Disney Channel transitioned from a premium service to a basic cable channel, significantly increasing its viewership.

Disney Channel's programming consists of original first-run television series, theatrically released and original made-for-TV movies, and select other third-party programming. The channel is known for its original series such as Lizzie McGuire, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Phineas and Ferb.
Original Movies[edit | edit source]
Disney Channel is also known for its Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOMs), which have included popular titles such as High School Musical, Camp Rock, and Descendants.

Disney Channel operates several international versions, including Disney Channel (UK & Ireland), Disney Channel (India), and Disney Channel (Australia and New Zealand). Each international version features a mix of localized content and programming from the U.S. channel.
