Dunn's

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Dunn's is a renowned delicatessen and restaurant chain based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was established in 1927 by Myer Dunn, and it is best known for its Montreal-style smoked meat, which is a type of kosher-style deli meat product made by salting and curing beef brisket with spices.

History[edit | edit source]

Myer Dunn founded Dunn's in 1927. He was inspired by the traditional delis of his native Russia and sought to introduce this culinary tradition to the people of Montreal. The first Dunn's restaurant was located on Avenue Papineau, and it quickly gained popularity due to its high-quality food and friendly service.

Menu[edit | edit source]

Dunn's menu features a variety of deli-style dishes, but it is most famous for its Montreal-style smoked meat. This dish is made by salting and curing beef brisket with a variety of spices, then smoking and steaming the meat until it is tender and flavorful. Other popular items on the menu include poutine, a Quebecois dish made with fries, cheese curds, and gravy, and matzo ball soup, a traditional Jewish dish.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Dunn's has several locations throughout Montreal and has also expanded to other parts of Canada. Each location maintains the same high standards of quality and service that were established by Myer Dunn in 1927.
