Edward Parker Helms (born January 24, 1974) is an American actor, comedian, and singer. He is best known for his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show, as Andy Bernard in the NBC sitcom The Office, and for his role as Stuart Price in The Hangover trilogy.
Early life[edit | edit source]
Helms was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended The Westminster Schools before enrolling at Oberlin College in Ohio, where he graduated with a degree in film theory and technology. During his time at Oberlin, Helms was also a member of the college's a cappella group, the Obertones.
Career[edit | edit source]
Early career[edit | edit source]
Helms began his career in comedy and improvisation in New York City. He performed with various sketch comedy groups and worked as a writer and performer with Upright Citizens Brigade.
The Daily Show[edit | edit source]
In 2002, Helms joined the cast of The Daily Show as a correspondent. He became known for his satirical and humorous reporting, contributing to the show's success during his tenure.
The Office[edit | edit source]
Helms joined the cast of The Office in its third season in 2006. He played the role of Andy Bernard, a preppy salesman with anger management issues. His character became a fan favorite, and Helms remained with the show until its conclusion in 2013.
The Hangover[edit | edit source]
Helms gained widespread recognition for his role as Stuart Price in The Hangover trilogy. The first film, released in 2009, was a major box office success and led to two sequels, released in 2011 and 2013.

In addition to his work on The Daily Show, The Office, and The Hangover, Helms has appeared in various other films and television shows. He has also lent his voice to animated projects, including The Lorax and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.

Helms is married and has one child. He is also an accomplished banjo player and has performed with the bluegrass band The Lonesome Trio.
