Emporia is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,766. The city is the county seat of Greensville County, although it is not part of the county.

Emporia has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1887. It was named after Emporia, Kansas, which was the home of a prominent businessman involved in the city's early development. The city has historically been a center for agriculture and trade due to its strategic location.
