Eric Topol
Eric Topol is an American cardiologist, geneticist, and digital medicine researcher. He is the founder and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute, a professor of Molecular Medicine at The Scripps Research Institute, and a senior consultant at the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Eric Topol was born on June 26, 1954, in New York City. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Virginia in 1975 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Rochester in 1979. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and his fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the Johns Hopkins University.

Topol began his career as a faculty member at the University of Michigan, where he was a professor of Medicine and Cardiology. He later moved to the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and founder of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
In 2006, Topol joined the Scripps Research Institute and founded the Scripps Research Translational Institute, focusing on the integration of genomics and digital health technologies to advance personalized medicine.

Topol is known for his pioneering work in the fields of cardiology, genomics, and digital medicine. He has published over 1,200 peer-reviewed articles and has been recognized as one of the most cited researchers in medicine.
