Fatih University was a private university located in Istanbul, Turkey. Established in 1996 by the Turkish Association of Health and Medical Treatment, Fatih University aimed to provide high-quality education and contribute to the production of knowledge through extensive research activities. The university was named after the Fatih district of Istanbul, which is historically significant for being the site of the conquest of Constantinople by Sultan Mehmed II, also known as Mehmed the Conqueror.

Fatih University was founded with the vision of becoming a leading institution in both education and research. It started its educational activities with a few faculties, including the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Theology. Over the years, it expanded its academic offerings to include the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, and several others, encompassing a wide range of disciplines.

The university also established various research centers and institutes to foster research in science, technology, humanities, and social sciences. These centers aimed to contribute to the academic community and society by producing innovative research projects and organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops.

The closure was part of a broader crackdown on institutions allegedly linked to the Gülen movement, which the government accused of orchestrating the coup attempt.

Despite its closure, Fatih University left a lasting impact on the academic and scientific community in Turkey. Its alumni have gone on to achieve success in various fields, contributing to society both in Turkey and internationally.
