Female genital prolapse

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Female genital prolapse is a condition in which the pelvic organs, such as the uterus, bladder, or rectum, sag or drop from their normal position and press against the vaginal wall. This can happen due to weakened pelvic muscles, which can occur during childbirth, menopause, or due to certain surgeries. Symptoms can include pelvic pressure or discomfort, difficulty urinating or having bowel movements, and vaginal bleeding. Treatment options include pelvic physical therapy, pessaries, and surgery.
