The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, commonly referred to as Fred Hutch, is a world-renowned biomedical research institution located in Seattle, Washington, U.S. Dedicated to the elimination of cancer and related diseases as causes of human suffering and death, Fred Hutch conducts research of the highest standards to improve prevention and treatment.

Fred Hutch was founded in 1975 by Dr. William Hutchinson in honor of his brother, Fred Hutchinson, a former professional baseball player and manager who died of lung cancer. Since its inception, the center has been at the forefront of cancer research, pioneering many breakthroughs in the field.

Fred Hutch is known for its interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists and humanitarians working together to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other diseases. Their research divisions include the Basic Sciences Division, Clinical Research Division, Human Biology Division, Public Health Sciences Division, and Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division.
