Gisele Barreto Fetterman (born February 27, 1982) is a Brazilian-American activist and philanthropist. She is the wife of John Fetterman, the U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania. Gisele is known for her work in the areas of food insecurity, immigration, and social justice.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Gisele Barreto Almeida was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of seven, settling in New York City. Gisele grew up as an undocumented immigrant, which significantly influenced her later activism. She attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a certified holistic health counselor.

Career[edit | edit source]

Gisele Barreto Fetterman is the founder of the nonprofit organization Free Store 15104, which redistributes surplus and donated goods to those in need. The organization operates out of a converted shipping container in Braddock, Pennsylvania. She is also a co-founder of 412 Food Rescue, an initiative aimed at reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity in the Pittsburgh area.

In addition to her work with Free Store 15104 and 412 Food Rescue, Gisele has been involved in various other philanthropic efforts. She has advocated for immigrant rights, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Gisele met her husband, John Fetterman, in 2007 when she wrote him a letter about the work he was doing as the mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania. They married in 2008 and have three children together. The family resides in Braddock, Pennsylvania.

Gisele has received numerous awards and honors for her activism and philanthropic work. She has been recognized by various organizations for her contributions to social justice and community service.
