- HCA has one of the largest network of hospitals in the city and the country, allowing us to share best practices and learning resources among programs.
- Our collaboration with the new University of Houston College of Medicine affords our residents with opportunities to teach students and participate in grand rounds on topics such as health care disparities.
- Our residents see the full breadth of cases at our 500 bed hospital, HCA Kingwood, a referral center for North Houston.
- We have a comprehensive simulation, didactic, and ambulatory curriculum.
- Nearly all of the outpatient clinics, including a brand new continuity clinic, are walking distance from the hospital. Our inpatient elective and outpatient clinic rotations all have full weekends off.
Program goal/aim[edit | edit source]
- The program seeks to provide a comprehensive curriculum to develop compassionate, highly competent, patient-centric, and ethical internists with expertise in disease prevention, and expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients with various conditions.
- We seek to instill in residents, the ability to accurately diagnose and treat patients with acute and chronic illness, provide them with the tools to develop relationships and collaborate with colleagues across the professional continuum and equip residents with the knowledge to strongly impact public health through community education and as advocates for disease prevention.
- We expect to graduate well-rounded physicians who successfully incorporate scholarly activity into their evidence-based practice.
- Our goal is to provide a strong foundation to promote lifelong collegial mentorship and develop future leaders.
