Hanumappa Sudarshan is an Indian social worker and tribal rights activist, renowned for his significant contributions to the health and development of the Soliga tribe in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, India. He is the founder of the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra (VGKK), a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of the tribal communities through healthcare, education, and sustainable development practices.

Hanumappa Sudarshan was born in Bangalore, Karnataka. He pursued his medical degree from the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, where his interest in serving the underprivileged sections of society took root. After completing his medical education, Sudarshan chose to work with the Soliga tribe in the Biligirirangan Hills of Karnataka. In 1980, he established the VGKK with the aim of integrating health care, education, and community development to improve the quality of life of the tribal populations.

Under his leadership, VGKK initiated a comprehensive healthcare program that included the establishment of a hospital and several mobile clinics to provide accessible medical care to the tribal communities. These healthcare services were not limited to allopathic medicine but also incorporated traditional healing practices, recognizing the importance of cultural sensitivity in healthcare delivery.

In addition to healthcare, Sudarshan's work with VGKK also focused on education and economic development. He was instrumental in setting up educational institutions for tribal children and vocational training centers for adults, aiming to reduce illiteracy and unemployment among the Soliga tribe.
