Infante Pedro Carlos of Spain and Portugal (Pedro Carlos Antonio Rafael José Javier Francisco Juan Nepomuceno Tomás de Aquino de Braganza y Borbón; 18 June 1786 – 4 July 1812) was an Infante of Spain and Portugal.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Infante Pedro Carlos was born in Aranjuez, Spain, the only son of Infante Gabriel of Spain and Infanta Mariana Victoria of Portugal. His paternal grandparents were Charles III of Spain and Maria Amalia of Saxony. His maternal grandparents were Peter III of Portugal and Maria I of Portugal.

Pedro Carlos was a member of the House of Bourbon and the House of Braganza. He was granted the title of Infante of Spain and Portugal, reflecting his dual heritage.

Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]

In 1810, Pedro Carlos married Infanta Maria Teresa of Portugal, his first cousin. She was the daughter of John VI of Portugal and Carlota Joaquina of Spain. The couple had one son:

Death[edit | edit source]

Infante Pedro Carlos died on 4 July 1812 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the age of 26. His early death left his son, Infante Sebastian, as his heir.

Pedro Carlos's ancestry was a blend of Spanish and Portuguese royal bloodlines, linking him to several prominent European royal families.
