James Lilja
James Lilja is an American gynecologic oncologist and musician. He is best known as the original drummer for the punk rock band The Offspring.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
James Lilja was born in California, United States. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began playing the drums during his teenage years.
Music Career[edit | edit source]
In 1984, Lilja joined the punk rock band The Offspring, which was formed by Dexter Holland and Greg K.. He played drums on the band's debut album, The Offspring, which was released in 1989. Lilja's drumming style contributed to the band's early sound, which combined elements of punk rock and hardcore punk.
Lilja left The Offspring in 1987 to pursue a career in medicine. He was replaced by Ron Welty, who became the band's drummer for the next 16 years.
Medical Career[edit | edit source]
After leaving The Offspring, Lilja attended medical school and specialized in gynecologic oncology. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology. Lilja is now a practicing gynecologic oncologist, focusing on the treatment of ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, and other gynecologic malignancies.

James Lilja is married and has children. He continues to balance his medical career with his passion for music.
