Bryan Keith "Dexter" Holland (born December 29, 1965) is an American musician and molecular biologist. He is best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter for the punk rock band The Offspring.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Dexter Holland was born in Garden Grove, California. He attended Pacifica High School, where he was the valedictorian of his graduating class. Holland later attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in molecular biology.
Music Career[edit | edit source]
The Offspring[edit | edit source]
In 1984, Holland co-founded the band The Offspring with bassist Greg K.. The band achieved mainstream success in the mid-1990s with their third studio album, Smash, which included hit singles such as "Come Out and Play" and "Self Esteem". The Offspring has released several successful albums, including Americana and Conspiracy of One.

In addition to his work with The Offspring, Holland has been involved in various other musical projects. He has collaborated with other artists and has also worked on solo material.
Academic Career[edit | edit source]
Holland returned to academia in the 2010s, completing his Ph.D. in molecular biology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. His research focused on the molecular dynamics of HIV.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Holland is a licensed pilot and has participated in several charity flights. He is also known for his hot sauce brand, Gringo Bandito, which he founded in 2004.
