Jonathan S. Lewin is an American radiologist and healthcare executive. He is known for his contributions to the field of radiology and his leadership roles in various healthcare institutions.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Jonathan S. Lewin was born in New York City. He completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. He then attended the Yale School of Medicine, where he received his MD degree. Following medical school, Lewin completed his residency in radiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and subsequently, he completed a fellowship in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Academic and Clinical Roles[edit | edit source]

Lewin began his academic career at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he served as a professor of radiology, oncology, and biomedical engineering. He also held the position of Director of the Division of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Vice Chairman for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Radiology.

Leadership Roles[edit | edit source]

In 2016, Lewin was appointed as the Executive Vice President for Health Affairs at Emory University, Executive Director of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, and President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Emory Healthcare. In these roles, he oversees the academic, research, and clinical missions of the health sciences center and the healthcare system.

Lewin's research has primarily focused on the development and application of advanced imaging techniques, particularly in the use of MRI for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been a frequent speaker at national and international conferences.

Throughout his career, Lewin has received several awards and honors, including the Gold Medal from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research.

Lewin is married and has two children. He is an avid supporter of the arts and enjoys photography and traveling in his spare time.
