Joyner Lucas (born Gary Maurice Lucas Jr.; August 17, 1988) is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is known for his intricate lyricism and storytelling abilities. Lucas first gained widespread attention with the release of his single "Ross Capicchioni" in 2015.

Joyner Lucas was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. He began rapping at the age of 10 and attended South High Community School. He initially performed under the stage name "G-Storm" before adopting the moniker "Future Joyner." After the rapper Future rose to fame, Lucas dropped "Future" from his name and began performing as Joyner Lucas.

Early Career[edit | edit source]
Lucas began recording under the name "G-Storm" and later "Future Joyner." He released several mixtapes, including Listen 2 Me in 2011. His breakthrough came with the release of the single "Ross Capicchioni" in 2015, which is based on a true story about a teenager who survived a gang initiation attempt on his life.
Major Label Debut[edit | edit source]
In 2017, Lucas signed with Atlantic Records and released the mixtape 508-507-2209. The mixtape included the single "I'm Not Racist", which went viral due to its controversial and thought-provoking content. The song earned Lucas a Grammy Award nomination for Best Music Video.
Collaborations and Recent Work[edit | edit source]
Lucas has collaborated with several high-profile artists, including Eminem on the track "Lucky You" from Eminem's album Kamikaze. He also worked with Chris Brown on the joint project Angels & Demons. In 2020, Lucas released his debut studio album, ADHD, which features the singles "Isis" featuring Logic and "Will", a tribute to actor Will Smith.
