Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), formerly known as Manipal University, is a private research university located in the town of Manipal, Karnataka, India. MAHE has branches in Dubai, Malaysia, and Antigua. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

History

The university was founded as the Manipal Engineering College in 1953 by Dr. T.M.A. Pai, who was a physician, educationist, banker, and philanthropist. In 1993, it was rechristened as Manipal University. The institution was granted deemed university status in 1993 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. In 2018, it was renamed Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

Campuses

MAHE's main campus is located in Manipal, Karnataka, sprawling over 600 acres. It offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere with students from over 60 countries. The university also has campuses in Mangalore, Bangalore, Dubai, Malaysia, and Antigua.

Manipal Campus

The Manipal campus is the primary campus of MAHE and offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various disciplines including medicine, engineering, pharmacy, hospitality, and management. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and sports complexes.

International Campuses

• Antigua Campus: Home to the American University of Antigua College of Medicine.
