Marrybrown
Marrybrown is a Malaysian-based fast food restaurant chain established in 1981. It is the first local quick service restaurant chain to franchise its business system in Malaysia. Marrybrown has over 350 outlets serving fried chicken, burgers, seafood, rice based products, noodles, porridge, breakfast items, desserts and beverages.
History[edit | edit source]
Marrybrown was founded by Lawrence Liew and Angeline Leong in Johor Bahru, Malaysia in 1981. The first outlet was a small shop in Wong Ah Fook Street. The founders wanted to create a local brand that could compete with international fast food chains. The name "Marrybrown" was chosen to represent the joy and happiness associated with meals.
Expansion[edit | edit source]
Marrybrown began its international expansion in 1987 with the opening of an outlet in Singapore. Since then, it has expanded to several countries including India, Indonesia, China, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Africa, Middle East and Bangladesh. As of 2021, Marrybrown operates over 350 outlets worldwide.
Menu[edit | edit source]
Marrybrown's menu features a variety of fast food items, including its signature MB Chicken, chicken burgers, fish burgers, vegetarian burgers, chicken poppers, french fries, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and soft serve ice cream. The menu also includes local favorites such as Nasi Marrybrown, a spicy rice dish served with chicken, and Mee Goreng, a stir-fried noodle dish.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Marrybrown has received several awards for its franchising success, including the Franchisee of the Year award from the Malaysian Franchise Association in 2002 and 2003. In 2019, Marrybrown was awarded the BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands Award in the Fast Food category.
