MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, formerly known as Montgomery General Hospital, is a large hospital located in Olney, Maryland. It is a member of the healthcare organization MedStar Health.

In 1909, Dr. Jacob Wheeler Bird established the first hospital in Montgomery County, Maryland. The hospital was officially opened in February 1920, admitting its first patients during a blizzard and the Spanish flu epidemic. Initially, the hospital had 28 beds and admitted 596 patients in its first year of operation.
