Melita Švob

Melita Švob (1922–2014) was a Croatian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. She is recognized for her significant contributions to the field of child psychiatry and psychotherapy, particularly in the context of post-traumatic stress in children.

Melita Švob was born in 1922 in Zagreb, Croatia. She completed her medical studies at the University of Zagreb in 1947. Following her graduation, she specialized in neurology and psychiatry.

Švob began her career at the Vrapče Psychiatric Hospital, where she worked for several years. She later moved to the Child Psychiatry Department of the Zagreb University Hospital Centre, where she worked until her retirement.

She developed innovative therapeutic approaches, integrating elements of psychoanalysis into her practice.
