Millisecond
A millisecond (SI symbol: ms) is a unit of time equal to one thousandth of a second (10−3 or 1/1000 s). The name is derived from the Latin words mille for thousand, and secundus for second.
Usage[edit | edit source]
Milliseconds are commonly used in measuring the time of events in science and technology. In sports, milliseconds are used to measure time where high precision is necessary, such as in track and field events and swimming. In computing, response times, processing times, and refresh rates are often measured in milliseconds.
