Nikitas Kaklamanis (Greek: Νικήτας Κακλαμάνης) is a Greek politician and physician. He has served in various political roles, including as the Mayor of Athens and as a member of the Hellenic Parliament.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Nikitas Kaklamanis was born on April 1, 1946, in Andros, Greece. He studied medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he specialized in radiology. After completing his studies, he worked as a physician and became involved in medical associations and unions.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Kaklamanis began his political career as a member of the New Democracy party. He was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 1990, representing the Cyclades constituency. Over the years, he has held various positions within the party and the government.

Ministerial Roles[edit | edit source]

In 2004, Kaklamanis was appointed as the Minister of Health and Social Solidarity in the government of Kostas Karamanlis. During his tenure, he focused on reforms in the healthcare system and improving public health services.

Mayor of Athens[edit | edit source]

In 2006, Kaklamanis was elected as the Mayor of Athens, a position he held until 2010. As mayor, he worked on various urban development projects, including the improvement of public spaces and infrastructure. He also focused on enhancing the city's cultural and historical heritage.

Nikitas Kaklamanis is married and has two children. He continues to be active in politics and public life, contributing to various social and political causes.
