Rio Grande do Sul
Rio Grande do Sul is the southernmost state in Brazil, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, Uruguay to the south and southwest, Argentina to the west, and the Brazilian states of Santa Catarina to the north and a small boundary with Paraná to the northeast. It is the fifth most populous state in Brazil and the ninth largest by area. The state capital and largest city is Porto Alegre. Rio Grande do Sul is known for its strong European cultural influence, particularly from German, Italian, and Portuguese immigrants, which is reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and social customs.
