Sherine Gabriel is a Canadian-American rheumatologist and epidemiologist known for her contributions to the field of rheumatology and epidemiology. She has held several prominent academic and administrative positions in various medical institutions.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Sherine Gabriel was born in Cairo, Egypt, and later moved to Canada with her family. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. She then pursued her medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine. Following her medical degree, she completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Gabriel began her career at the Mayo Clinic, where she served in various capacities, including as a professor of medicine and epidemiology. She was instrumental in advancing research in the field of rheumatology, particularly in the epidemiology of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.

In 2013, Gabriel was appointed as the Dean of the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. During her tenure, she focused on enhancing the school's research capabilities and expanding its clinical services.

In 2019, Gabriel became the President of Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. At Rush University, she has been involved in various initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and medical education.
