Tenosynovitis

Causes[edit | edit source]

Tenosynovitis can be caused by strain or overuse of a tendon, injury, or health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and infection. It is also common in individuals who perform repetitive movements for their job or hobby, such as typing, playing a musical instrument, or sports.

Symptoms[edit | edit source]

The main symptoms of tenosynovitis include pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the affected joint. The pain is usually worse with movement of the joint and at night. The joint may also feel warm to the touch and look red.

Diagnosis[edit | edit source]

Diagnosis of tenosynovitis is usually based on the symptoms and a physical examination. The doctor may also order imaging tests such as an MRI or ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions.

Treatment[edit | edit source]

Treatment for tenosynovitis usually involves rest, physical therapy, and medication to reduce inflammation and pain. In severe cases, surgery may be required to repair the tendon and synovium.
