Testosterone hexahydrobenzylcarbonate is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication which is used mainly in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. It is also used in hormone therapy for transgender men. It is given by intramuscular injection.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

Testosterone hexahydrobenzylcarbonate is a synthetic and injected form of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone. It is an ester of testosterone with a propionate moiety at the 17-beta hydroxyl group, and a hexahydrobenzylcarbonate moiety at the 3-alpha position.

Medical uses[edit | edit source]

Testosterone hexahydrobenzylcarbonate is used primarily in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. This can include conditions such as hypogonadism, a condition where the body does not produce enough testosterone. It is also used in hormone therapy for transgender men, providing the male sex hormone that the body may not be producing sufficiently.

Side effects[edit | edit source]

Like all medications, testosterone hexahydrobenzylcarbonate can have side effects. These can include acne, breast enlargement in men, increased sexual desire, and mood changes. More serious side effects can include cardiovascular complications, such as an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
