Tolectin

Tolectin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used to relieve pain, swelling, and joint stiffness caused by arthritis. This medication is known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking your body's production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. This effect helps to decrease swelling, pain, or fever.

Pharmacology

Tolectin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as indolecarboxylic acids and derivatives. Indolecarboxylic acids and derivatives are compounds containing a carboxylic acid linked (as alkylidene) to an indole. Tolectin is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). In humans, Tolectin is involved in the metabolic pathway called the ibuprofen action pathway.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Tolectin include upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, gas, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Serious side effects may include easy bruising/bleeding, hearing changes (such as ringing in the ears), mental/mood changes, swelling of the ankles/feet/hands, sudden/unexplained weight gain, change in the amount of urine, unexplained stiff neck, and vision changes.

Interactions

Tolectin may interact with other medications, including anticoagulants, corticosteroids, lithium, and methotrexate. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all other medications you are currently taking to avoid potential interactions.

Precautions

Before taking Tolectin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to aspirin or other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
